ICS 2009 CANADIAN THANKSGIVING DINNER REPORT

Ambassador Pat Binns prepares to carve a turkey
crown as his wife Carol and ICS Chair Dave Wilson look on.

Despite almost a third of the 2008 Dinner attendees having returned
to Canada during the past year, a record gathering of just under
80 -- singles, couples and families -- enjoyed each others' company
and a sumptuous traditional Canadian Thanksgiving meal in the gorgeous
Thomas Prior Room at Bewley's Hotel, Ballsbridge.
ICS Chair, Dave Wilson concluded his pre-dinner welcome with cross-country
surveys that revealed that attendees hailed from every province
in Canada and the Irish counties of Carlow, Donegal, Dublin, Galway,
Kerry, Meath, Monaghan and Tipperary, and Ambassador Pat Binns brought
warm Thanksgiving greetings to the gathering.
Food & Beverage Manager, Colm Murphy, and his team admirably
maintained the Hotel's high standard of previous years' Dinners,
complementing the meal with excellent service and two harvest displays
that added nicely to the Dinner's Thanksgiving 'feel'.
The Dinner concluded with a door prize draw. The five happy winners
took home: a traditional ICS Canadiana gift basket, a unique Canada
umbrella customed designed for and donated by the Embassy, two 50
euro Kilkenny Shops gift vouchers donated by the Ireland canada
business Association, and a voucher for a Bewleys Brasserie dinner
for two, with a bottle of wine, donated by the Hotel.
